Step 2 - Set DNS
- Click 'How-to' > 'Set up your network to Secure Internet Gateway' > 'Next' to open this step.
Step 2 shows where your DNS settings live and which addresses to change them to. Traffic is filtered only once your network resolves DNS through Secure Internet Gateway.
You can work out which device holds your DNS settings and then repoint it.
Find where your DNS is set
Depending on your company policy, DNS can be set in several places. The easiest way to find out is to check whether DHCP is enabled on a computer.
- If DHCP is enabled, the DNS addresses are set on the DHCP server, which can be a router, a firewall or a server. Sign in to it and change the DNS addresses.
- If DHCP is not enabled, change the DNS server in Adapter Settings on the computer, or in Wi-Fi Settings on a mobile phone.
Repoint your DNS
- Check whether DHCP is enabled on a computer in the network.
- If it is, sign in to the DHCP server, which may be a router, a firewall or a server.
- If it is not, open Adapter Settings on the computer, or Wi-Fi Settings on the phone.
- Replace the DNS addresses with the Secure Internet Gateway IPv4 addresses shown on this step.
